Combine the baking soda and cornstarch in a small bowl. I keep citric acid on hand because I make bath bombs and shower fizzies (I also use it for canning), but most people don't keep it on the shelf. I prefer to use a silicone mold for shower melts because I think they release easier. Tap the outside of the mold on both sides with the back of a spoon to loosen the bath bomb. Both recipes are similar and have the same ingredients except for the citric acid, which I didn't use in this recipe. So if you want to make shower melts without citric acid and without clay, you need another binding agent. Continue stirring until the shower bomb mixture forms a paste like mixture.Add a few lavender flowers to the bottom of 9 cavities of the silicone mold.Evenly spoon the lavender shower steamers mixture into the cavities with the flowers.Press the mixture firmly down into each of the cavities of the mold.Allow the steamers to set for about 24 hours, or until fully hardened.Carefully remove the lavender essential oil shower steamers from the mold.
